Bryant Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioning in Pleasant Gap, PA

Redmond’s Complete Comfort installed this multi-zone Bryant ductless mini split in Pleasant Gap, PA for Bo and Maddie Nickal. Pleasant Gap is a small community located in Centre County Pennsylvania, not far from another installation we’ve featured in State College.

PROBLEM:  When the Nickal’s moved into the house, they had a gas furnace for heat, but no air conditioning. They went through the first summer using window air conditioners, which were loud, inefficient (expensive to operate), and provided uneven cooling.

SOLUTION: When Brian Redmond surveyed the property and talked to Bo and Maddy Nickal’s about their comfort needs, he knew right away that this was the perfect situation for a multi-zone dustless mini-split solution.

Bo Nickal Wanted Ductless Mini Splits

“So originally how I got in contact with Redmond’s,” Bo explains, “was they did some work with me on my rental property. I was looking to get a ductless mini split system here just because I had a baby inbound. My wife was pregnant and I was like, man, we can’t do a summer without AC. And at the same time, Brian had reached out to me and the timing just worked out perfectly and really, really glad that it did for sure.”

“So we have four units, living room, and then one in the downstairs bedroom, two upstairs. And it’s been a big blessing. It’s been amazing. You know, we spent the last summer in the heat and it wasn’t the most fun. And now I’m like, I can’t. I don’t know how I lived without it.”

Brian designed a four-zone system using a 3-ton, variable speed condensing unit that supports all four indoor air handlers resulting in an extremely efficient system. This multi-zone ductless mini-split system delivers more than enough heat even when the temperature outside gets down to negative 22 degrees Fahrenheit.

Why a Multi-Zone Ductless Heat Pump Installation?

For a home in central Pennsylvania’s climate, this is one of the best solutions to put into a house because it can heat and cool and has multiple zones that can be set independently. Redmond’s went with a Bryant multi-zone ductless heat pump because the home is built on a slab and has no attic space. So going with a conventional, ducted HVAC system would require a significant investment in fabricating the ductwork, and the associated demo and carpentry needed to box it in would be equally expensive and disruptive to the home’s design.

Having a Bryant muti-zone ductless mini split system like this in the summer, when it’s 90 degrees outside, feels just amazing inside the Nickal home.

A Bonus Feature of a Bryant Ductless Heat Pump

A nice feature with this unit that Bo actually brought up was in his bedroom. He likes the ability to turn the LED off. So having that function with this was another good feature of this unit for this home.

Ductless Mini Split

Ductless Mini Split Can Be Individually Zoned

One of the really nice things about a multi-zone ductless system is that you can set it at 62 degrees in one room, in a small area that you want to cool down really fast, or you can set it at a temperature for a baby to sleep at at night.

You can turn it on, get to temperature, turn it off, or you can just leave it at a temperature and leave it there all day long. There’s so much functionality within a ductless mini split for you to be comfortable with in your home.

“I would say what I like most about the systems is the consistency,” explains Bo. “This is an older home, so with that, you know, you get little gaps and things like that. And what I think that was the most frustrating before was just inconsistent temperature in one room different than the other.”

“And what I feel like now is every time I come inside, it’s just a very consistent temperature. It’s consistent room to room. And, you know, I’m not sweating or not freezing, depending on what room I go into or depending on what season it is. And yeah, so the best part to me is the consistency for sure. Definitely efficient as well. Room to room. You know, seeing the bill and it’s good.”

Redmond’s Complete Comfort is a Ductless Mini Split Expert

“It was amazing working with Redmond’s,” Bo told us. “The process was super easy. They were great with communication and then actually getting the system put in, I didn’t know how it was going to go. They were super knowledgeable. You know, basically they just asked kind of what my needs were, and once they knew that, they could basically fit the system just to meet those needs.”

Redmond's Complete Comfort is Amazing

And so the process of getting that done was super smooth. And then what I was incredibly impressed with was the ductless mini split installation. It happened super quick, super easy. To me, I’m not very handy or anything. And so it looked like a massive project. And they were in and out quick and easy. And, yeah, the whole process was great overall.
